Why Do You Have to Say Affirmations Out Loud?

We all want to make positive changes in our lives, no one wants to feel hopeless and unhappy. You might have come across the practise of affirmations and heard of the good it has brought other people but when you tried it yourself it doesn’t work. You need to say your affirmations out loud and I’m here to tell you why.

You should be saying affirmations out loud because by doing so it is conditioning your mind to behave positively. When reading out loud we form auditory links in our memory pathways and this is why it is effective. If you are repeatedly saying these affirmations out loud your subconscious is being embedded with these positive thoughts.

Feel free to jump on any of these topisc we’ll cover today:

What Happens If You Don’t Say Affirmations Out Loud?

There is nothing bad about writing affirmations down or saying them inside your head but there are so many more benefits to saying them out loud.

Writing them down or saying them in your head doesn’t do the same as when you read them aloud.

As I’ve said previously, our brain forms auditory links in our memory pathways when we read out loud. Unfortunately, it can be a long process to form the auditory links if they are written down or said inside of your head.

Meaning people can sometimes get bored and don’t want to keep doing it, because they don’t think it is working.

Will Saying Affirmations Out Loud Change Me as a Person?

If you are a very negative person but take up saying daily affirmations, there is a high possibility that you will change as a person.

Positive and negative people are very different from one another. They have different views and beliefs and this can lead to them living very different lifestyles.

Friends and relationships will be completely diverse, you surround yourself around people that are like you and have the same views and beliefs as you do.

Changing who you are is a wonderful thing, it allows you to have control, you can be who you wish to be.

Are Affirmations Actually Effective?

You’ve likely started looking into doing affirmations because you are having negative thoughts and are looking to uplift your mood, but are they effective?

Affirmations can be effective for some people but occasionally there can be some people that find it doesn’t work, in some cases making them feel worse. Despite this, thousands of people have had positive change from affirmations, such as people with mental health issues, they find it can help to get them out of dark places. A lot of successful people use affirmations to inspire them to accomplish their ambitions and to be more successful.

In reality, there is a scientific theory behind the practice of affirmation and as to why it works for some people. It is called The Self-Affirmation Theory (Steele, 1988). The theory found that people will change their ways and beliefs if they feel that their self-concept is vulnerable.

Can Affirmations Help with Mental Health?

Affirmations are a great way to subdue mental health issues. It can be very difficult for someone with mental health issues to feel confident with themselves, they tend to bring themselves down and can find it hard to be optimistic about the future.

Being in a negative mindset can affect things like your personal lives, relationships and careers. Affirmations can increase the number of endorphins in our brains which help to improve people’s moods. So the answer is yes, they can improve a person’s mental health.

Some of the ways affirmations help with mental health include:

•    Reduce Stress

Negative thoughts can cause stress and unhappiness. If you’re changing your mindset it will reduce stress which will lead to you feeling a lot happier.

•    Boost Self-Esteem

If you are someone will low self-esteem it’s a great activity to try, it can help grow confidence in yourself which will only increase your self-esteem.

•    Motivate You

Saying affirmations out loud can motivate you. If you repeatedly tell yourself something you are going to start doing it.

•    Improve Overall Quality of Life

Changing your thoughts from negative to positive will change the way you see life, it will help make you happier overall thus improving relationships, friendships, work-life, etc.

Some of the Best Affirmations to Improve Your Mental Health

I’ve put together a couple of affirmations which I think are important for every single person to say out loud no matter what their circumstances are. Each one of these affirmations should be a way of life because they are positive and can only boost a person’s mental health.

1. “I love myself”

I cannot stress how important self-love is. It helps you to become a confident person and to have faith in yourself and your goals in life. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people out there that feel the opposite of love about themselves, instead, they hate. But by telling yourself that you love you, you will eventually clear your mind of this negative hatred towards yourself.

2. “I am so grateful for my life”

Being grateful for your life is a great way to boost your mood. If you keep telling yourself that you are grateful you will live by it and believe it. By living with a mindset of being grateful for your life it will make you attract more good things and encourage you to be appreciative for what you have, you will see how fortunate you are to be alive.

3. “I will be successful”

This is a great affirmation for those who have set business or career goals for themselves. Confirming to yourself that you will be successful will make you want to reach your goals and will only push you to succeed further. Nonetheless, it is also an excellent affirmation for everyone. Everybody should want to be successful in their life, you shouldn’t settle for less when there is a whole world out there to conquer. Everybody is capable of becoming successful and this is a perfect affirmation to set yourself into that mindset.

4. “I will allow myself to be in only healthy relationships”

Unhealthy relationships can cause a person’s self-esteem and confidence to be shattered so by recapping this affirmation daily, it can be a great way to be aware of who you are dating and understanding if they are healthy or not for you.

5. “I deserve happiness”

I cannot stress this affirmation enough; everyone should be saying this to themselves. No person should need to feel unhappy, everyone has the right to be happy. Many people have their own issues and sometimes don’t focus on themselves and their happiness but it is so essential to do so.
